    For over 30 years, Budgens have been working with British farmers to supply you with the highest quality meats, maintaining our commitment to supporting British food producers. Our team have a wealth of experience and personally quality check SuperValu meat before it is delivered fresh to store. All our fresh SuperValu meat carries the Red Tractor logo ensuring the animals have a good quality of life, but also that the food is fully traceable - so it’s been inspected from farm to shelf.
    Its an easy way to be sure of the provenance of the meat you’re buying.

  • Our history

    Founded by John Budgen in 1872, Budgens is believed to be one of the oldest supermarket brands in Great Britain. Initially a small, local grocer, the company has expanded and over time the Budgens name appeared on a number of stores throughout the South of England, establishing a reputation for servicing the local communities around England’s high streets and suburban towns with quality products.

    In 2002, Budgens became part of the Musgrave Group and today Budgens has over 180 stores, varying from petrol forecourts to neighbourhood supermarkets, which are now independently owned by our Budgens retailers.
